The Blackbird Sang a Sweet Song

'I've never been one to support the domestication of birds' cried the girl.

Why cage a bird? Why does the caged bird sing?

I think sometimes people are like birds. We are adorned with these beautiful obscure things. We lazily flap them to see how they work and what they can do; see if they are capable of more than beautification. Sometimes we learn almost immediately how to use these to make them soar above the masses; we take ourselves places.

We migrate. We change. We grow.

Unfortunately, the majority of us get our wings clipped by some event or person that is not in our means to control. Our beautiful wings are now just simply beautiful and no longer functional. No longer can they take us places, no longer can we grow, no longer can we change. We are at the mercy of our captors. We have to rely on them for our needs; emotionally, physically and mentally. Maybe we are our own captors. Maybe we can make our wings work once more.

What do I know? Nothing. I'm a caged bird myself.

i hate those feelings of repression based on the past. i'm sure it's good sometimes, but i always look back at my mistakes or influences and shutter, i clip my own wings.

Grippes, Gracias. I've come to realize that our wings can be repaired with a little superglue. It may need to be reapplied everynow and then but it stills bonds us back together.

Pickle, It was just a lot of lucky guesses... ok maybe I do like trivia. ;-)

Dusty, every single day I wish I had wings. Mainly because of the New York transit system but there are other reasons too I think. The artist's name is Craig Mod. I've become a recent groupie to his work. http://www.craigmod.com/photography/kanda_river_faces/
Be sure to check him out. He's fantastic.
